The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba (WCB) covers approximately 75 percent of our workforce and serves over 34,000 employers.
In 2016, we celebrated 100 years of The Workers Compensation Act (the Act). It's fitting that given this historic milestone, the Manitoba government review the Act to ensure it meets the needs of injured workers, their families and employers. The last review of the Act took place in 2005 and had 100 recommendations.
From November 15, 2016 to February 15, 2017, the Workers Compensation Act Legislative Review Committee 2016 (LRC) accepted submissions from workers, employers, labour unions, industry and safety associations, key stakeholders and interested Manitobans. The LRC now has a thorough understanding of the issues and is preparing a final report for the government's consideration. The LRC wishes to thank Manitobans for their input.
