Have ideas about how to improve The Workers Compensation Act?
The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of Manitoba is a statutory corporation that provides workplace injury and disability insurance for both workers and employers.
With approximately 600 employees, the WCB is dedicated to ensuring and supporting safe and healthy workplaces. They place workers and employers at the centre of all they do, providing services for injury prevention, compensation and facilitating return to health and work, all while maintaining the integrity to the workers compensation system.
The WCB insures over 40,000 employers, covering 73 per cent of the Manitoba workforce.
The Workers Compensation Act (the Act) requires the appointment of a review committee at least once every 10 years to review the Act to ensure it reflects workplace, economic and societal changes. The Government of Manitoba has appointed The Workers Compensation Act Legislative Review Committee 2025-2026 (LRC) to complete this work and deliver a report by the end of 2026.
The LRC is looking for input from workers, employers, labour unions, industry and safety associations, key stakeholders and interested Manitobans to get a thorough understanding of the issues. A Consultation Paper setting out the context for the consultation and asking for written submissions and oral presentations will be issued shortly. Please check back for more details.
Our main focus, as set out in our mandate, is on the Act and Regulations, not on the administration of the WCB.
